Okay so drinks have not been my speciatly whilst hosting so far! I wouldn't say I don't make them well, it's more like they tend to be an afterthought. I put so much love and effort into the appetizers, the main meal, and the dessert, but tend to put thought into the drinks last. However, there is something about holiday drinks or making a drink more seasonal per say, that gets me really excited! This spiked hot chocolate is the perfect mix between cozy, warm, comforting, and adult fun! By the way, this drink will pair amazingly with my Double Chocolate French Silk Pie!!!
Spiked Hot Chocolate
Ingredients
2 cups whole milk
3 tablespoons cocoa powder
2 tablespoons sugar
Pinch of salt
½ bar of good-quality chocolate (about 1.5 oz), chopped
2 shots bourbon (or to taste)
Whipped cream, for topping
Chocolate shavings (made with a potato peeler)
1 cinnamon stick, for garnish
Instructions
Warm the milk: Add the milk to a small pot over medium heat. Heat gently. It should be hot but not boiling.
Whisk in cocoa, sugar, and salt: Add cocoa powder, sugar, and a pinch of salt. Whisk until smooth and well blended.
Add chocolate: Stir in half a chocolate bar (about 1.5 oz) and mix until it melts completely and the hot chocolate becomes rich and silky.
Add bourbon: Remove from heat and stir in the bourbon.
Serve: Pour into your favorite mug, top with whipped cream, chocolate shavings, and a cinnamon stick straw.
Enjoy: Cozy up and sip slowly
