Caramel apples are everywhere all fall long, but I wanted to make something a little different today — so I tried pears instead. It’s such a cozy, unique fall twist and honestly? I might never go back. The shape is pretty, the Bosc pears bring that warm brown tone that feels so seasonal, and the crunch is perfect if you pick ones that aren’t totally ripe yet.
These are double-dipped in chewy caramel for that extra thick layer, then the bottoms get dunked in chocolate and rolled in whatever toppings you'd like— toffee, sprinkles, roasted pecans. They’re so fun to make, and even prettier to set out at a little fall gathering. Now that Im thinking about it, this could be a fun party activity. Set out a caramel pear station and everyone gets to pick their own toppings! How fun!
What you’ll need
6 Bosc pears (slightly underripe = best crunch)
1 bag chewy caramel candies (14 oz), unwrapped
2 tbsp water
½ cup melted chocolate (milk or dark)
Toppings: chocolate sprinkles, toffee bits, chopped nuts, roasted pecans — mix and match!
How to make them
Melt the caramels with water on low heat, stirring until smooth.
Dip each pear in caramel once, let it set for about 10 minutes
Once the caramel’s a little tacky, dip the bottom half in melted chocolate. Roll or sprinkle with whatever toppings you love.
Let them sit on parchment until the chocolate hardens or refrigerate before serving (20–30 mins). Then they’re ready to enjoy — preferably with a cozy blanket and a fall candle burning.
Pro Tip
Underripe pears >>> ripe pears here. Caramel apples are probably so popular because of how crisp they are. When pears are ripe, they tend to be more soft and sweet...this is nice until it's also covereed in caramel haha! If you use less ripe pears, they should have a bit more crunch while still being sweet. If you aren't too much of a texture person, you may not mind a ripe pear...just a thouht.
Spin the pears gently while the caramel sets so it doesn’t all slide to the bottom.
Wrap them in wax paper + twine if you want them to look extra cute for gifting.

I'll be serving these at my fall coffee shop at home party in a few weeks!
